Man dies following shooting in Petersburg

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A man is dead after he was found shot on Jamestown Road in Petersburg early Tuesday morning.

At 2:04 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 25, officers with the Petersburg Bureau of Police responded to reports of an injured person in the 2100 block of Jamestown Road.

While officers were on the way to the scene, police said the call was upgraded to a report of a gunshot victim.

When officers arrived, they reportedly found an unidentified man with a gunshot wound. Officials said he was taken to a local hospital where he died due to his injuries.
