Man fighting for life after shooting in Chesterfield, suspect in custody

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Chesterfield County Police Department has a suspect in custody after a man was found with a life-threatening gunshot wound on Thursday night.
At 11:55 p.m. on April 24, officers were called to the 2700 block of Addington Avenue after it was reported a person was attempting to break into vehicles.
When the officers arrived at the scene, they found a man who had been shot. Officers rendered aid to the man before he was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
According to police, the suspect in the shooting is in custody and there is no threat to the public.
