Man found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds in Chesterfield County early Thursday morning.

At 4:07 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, officers with the Chesterfield County Police Department responded to the 12300 block of Moores Lake Road for a report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times. Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene.

"There is no threat to the community at this time," police said.

Officials said the identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
