Man has ‘significant injuries’ after hit by car in Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A man has "significant injuries" after he was hit by a driver in Henrico County on Thursday.

At about 8:40 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to Monument Avenue near Pepper Avenue for report of a crash involving a pedestrian.

When they arrived, officers found a man with "significant injuries," according to police.

He was taken to a local hospital by first responders with the Henrico County Division of Fire.

The driver of the striking vehicle is cooperating with the investigation, according to police.

As of the time of reporting, Monument Avenue near Pepper Avenue is closed as investigators work the scene.

"We hope to have Monument Ave. open for regular traffic within an hour," a police spokesperson said.

The crash remains under investigation.
