Man injured after running off road, hitting tree in Hanover

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A driver is injured after he ran off the road and crashed into a tree in Hanover County Thursday evening, after which officials said he was entrapped.
At 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, the Hanover County Sheriff's Office responded to Ashland Road near its intersection with Cauthorne Road for a single-vehicle crash involving a red sedan that ran off the road and hit a tree.
The driver, who officials said was a man and the only person in the vehicle, was trapped inside the car, but was safely rescued by Hanover County Fire and EMS crews.
The man was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. Officials said his injuries "do not appear to be life-threatening at this time."
The sheriff's office said the initial investigation revealed that alcohol may be a factor, and the circumstances that led to the crash are still being investigated.
