Maymont leads 8News through succulent container gardening workshop
CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Looking to test out your green thumb? Maymont will host succulent container gardening workshops for folks of all levels.
On Thursday morning, Feb. 13, 8News Anchors Delaney Hall and Autumn Childress were led through a workshop by Krista Weatherford, Maymont's director of programming and community engagement, and educator Joanne Sims.
Hall and Childress began making a succulent container garden by starting with a bed of rocks for drainage. Next, they sprinkled on a bit of activated charcoal, which also aids with drainage and prevents root rot.
Next, they layered on some dirt and planted a few succulents and added moss.
Attendees at these workshops will take home their own creations. All supplies will be provided, though folks can bring their own gardening gloves.
