Maymont wraps up annual Bier Garden Festival
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Maymont wrapped up their annual Bier Garden Festival after the weekend long celebration Sunday, Sept. 21.
The Bier Garden kicked off Saturday Sept. 20 to Sunday Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. at 1700 Hampton Street or Carriage House Road.
Due to Saturday's storms the event was shut down due to lightening, however Maymont says, tickets will still be honored on Sunday due to the lightening.
The two day German style festival featured a variety of local craft brews, ciders and non-alcoholic beverages. Bavarian and Polish cuisines such as brats, schnitzel and pierogi's were also available to event goers and handcrafted by local chefs.
The festival was filled with music, German folk dancers, yard games and an authentic Marketplatz with local vendors selling artisanal treats and gifts, according to Maymont.
There was something for everyone including a Kinderzone for kids and an afternoon of crafts, games and entertainment. Pets were also included in the fun the dachshund costume contest and parade, which was hosted by the Dachshund Enlightenment Foundation.
