Metro Richmond Zoo to host pygmy hippo painting classes

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- In honor of Pygmy Hippo Day coming up in April, the Metro Richmond Zoo will be hosting two painting classes taught by The Art Factory.

The first class is tailored towards adults and will take place on April 11 -- including a hippo crunch ice cream treat from Kline's.

The second class is an afternoon event for kids aged five and up, and will take place on April 12.

Both classes are for people of all experience levels, and participants will get to celebrate Pygmy Hippo Day by taking home their own Poppy art piece.

Additionally, half of the proceeds from the event will go towards conservation efforts regarding pygmy hippos in West Africa.
