Missing 16-year-old Chesterfield girl found safe

UPDATE: This missing teenager has been found safe, according to police.

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A 16-year-old girl who went missing after leaving her Chesterfield County home Sunday night has since been found safe.

The afternoon of Monday, Dec. 29, the Chesterfield County Police Department issued a missing endangered runaway alert for 16-year-old Mariah Miller. At that time, she had last been seen leaving her home at about 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 28.

"Based on information provided by a family member, police believe Miller to be endangered," authorities said.

Corrections officer warned VADOC leaders of ‘grave failure in oversight’ months before deadly attack on colleague

Later Monday afternoon, police provided an update, saying that Miller has been found safe.
