Multi-vehicle crash with tractor-trailer causes delays on I-95 in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- A multi-vehicle crash, involving a tractor-trailer, has caused delays on Interstate 95 in Richmond.

On Wednesday, Jan. 7, at around 1:15 p.m., Virginia State Police responded to a multi-vehicle crash on I-95 southbound near the Bells Road exit.

The initial investigation from state police found that a disabled vehicle had stopped in the left lane, leading to a chain reaction involving five vehicles and a tractor-trailer, all becoming disabled due to the crash.

Multiple people were transported for medical evaluations, but no one has life-threatening injuries, according to police.

The crash has caused the left lane shoulder to be closed, as crews work to remove a vehicle from under the tractor-trailer.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.
