‘Multiple’ bidders submit proposals for former GreenCity site
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County is set to review multiple submissions for an arena-anchored project site that was formerly positioned to be "GreenCity."
After the county reacquired the property from GreenCity developers following legal and financial issues, Henrico officials announced in May that they released a "request for interest" to see what those in the development community envisioned for the site.
In a statement from Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas on Tuesday, July 29, he said the county has "received multiple submissions" for the arena and mixed-use development portions of the proposal.
Throughout the upcoming weeks, a committee made up of county representatives, members of the Henrico Economic Development Authority and members of the Henrico Sports & Entertainment Authority will review the submissions as well as the qualifications of those interested, Vithoulkas said.
Vithoulkas also indicated that the county is hopeful the submission review process will allow for a proposal to be under consideration for the Board of Supervisors by later this year.
