Multiple lane closures coming to North Barton Heights area in Richmond

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The City of Richmond will be closing multiple lanes in the North Barton Heights area beginning on Monday -- nearly a year after closing many lanes in the South Barton Heights area.

From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Monday, March 31 through Wednesday, April 30, the city's Department of Public Works will close the following lanes in Richmond's Northside:

  • Hawthorne Avenue Loop from West Brookland Park Boulevard to Hawthorne Avenue
  • Hawthorne Avenue from West Brookland Park Boulevard to Dupont Circle
  • Hammond Avenue from Chamberlayne Avenue to Hawthorne Avenue
  • Noble Avenue from East Brookland Park Boulevard to Dupont Circle
  • Dupont Circle from Hawthorne Avenue to Hawthorne Avenue
  • Hawthorne Avenue from Dupont Circle to Overbrook Road
  • Edgehill Road from Chamberlayne Avenue to Hawthorne Avenue
  • West Lancaster Road from Chamberlayne Avenue to Hawthorne Avenue
  • Tazwell Street from Edgehill Road to Overbrook Road
  • North Garland Avenue from West Brookland Park Boulevard to West Norwood Avenue
  • Hanes Avenue from West Brookland Park Boulevard to West Norwood Avenue
  • Fendall Avenue from West Brookland Park Boulevard to Overbrook Road
  • Griffin Avenue from West Brookland Park Boulevard to West Norwood Avenue
  • Edgewood Avenue from Montrose Avenue to West Brookland Park Boulevard
  • Montrose Avenue from West Brookland Park Boulevard to The Terrace
  • Moss Side Avenue from West Brookland Park Boulevard to Dupont Circle
  • The Terrace from West Norwood Avenue to Overbrook Road
  • The Plaza from Fendall Avenue to West Lancaster Road
  • West Lancaster Road from Montrose Avenue to North Avenue
  • West Norwood Avenue from Griffin Avenue to North Avenue
  • West Hooper Street from Montrose Avenue to North Avenue
  • West Essex Street from Moss Side to North Avenue
  • Miller Avenue from West Norwood Avenue to Overbrook Road

The department said the closures are part of the paving program across the City of Richmond. They advise that some travel lanes through the North Barton Heights area may be temporarily closed during the road work.
