Nearly 44,000 Central Virginia homes, businesses without power due to severe storms
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Nearly 44,000 Central Virginia homes and businesses are without power Monday night amid severe thunderstorms.
The evening of Monday, March 16, severe thunderstorms brought heavy downpours and high-speed winds to Central Virginia, causing many to lose power.
As of 9:30 p.m. Monday evening, more than 43,788 Dominion Energy customers are without power. The most significant outages are in the following localities:
- Chesterfield County: 10,998 homes and businesses
- Henrico County: 8,707 homes and businesses
- Hanover County: 4,565 homes and businesses
- Goochland County: 3,430 homes and businesses
- Albemarle County: 3,167 homes and businesses
- Powhatan County: 2,704 homes and businesses
- New Kent County: 2,271 homes and businesses
- Amelia County: 1,801 homes and businesses
- Dinwiddie County: 1,325 homes and businesses
- Caroline County: 1,157 homes and businesses
- Prince Edward County: 1,040 homes and businesses
- Buckingham County: 600 homes and businesses
- Richmond City: 589 homes and businesses
- Brunswick County: 461 homes and businesses
- Charles City County: 371 homes and businesses
- Mecklenburg County: 340 homes and businesses
- Lunenburg County: 274 homes and businesses
- King William County: 210 homes and businesses
- Petersburg City: 128 homes and businesses
At the height of the outage, nearly 47,000 homes and businesses were without power.
