New apartments to be built on former Greyhound station’s property in Richmond
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Approved plans from the City of Richmond are shedding light on what’s to come on the former Greyhound station property on North Arthur Ashe Boulevard.
The property across from The Diamond, 2910 North Arthur Ashe Boulevard, was purchased nearly four years ago by an out-of-town developer, which plans to replace the station with apartments. According to city records, the developer will build two seven-story buildings with a 630-spot parking garage and 38 surface parking spaces.
Building One will house 388 units, and Building Two will house 269 units, for a total of 657 units. There will be a mixture of units and retail space, including 133 studios, 338 one-bedrooms, 180 two-bedrooms, and six three-bedrooms. Amenities include a pool, courtyard and fitness center.
The property was bought by Twenty Lake Holdings in 2021, a Connecticut-based real estate investment firm. The firm plans to completely demolish the station for the project, which is expected to cost around $ 64 million.
8News reported in August that the station would be closing. Since then, Greyhound and its parent company Flixbus have moved their operations to Main Street Station. A Flixbus spokesperson told 8News that the transition has gone smoothly.
