New art, AI exhibit being featured at Art Works in Richmond
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Art Works is preparing to open six new exhibits as part of the gallery's ongoing 4th Friday series.
Visitors are invited to see the new artwork and meet the artists behind them during an opening reception on Friday, June 27, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The works included are:
- Light Entwined by Richard Harding
- Night Life by Robert Pfeifer
- Hidden Pieces by Corrine Schofield
- Recent work by Cagla Kurtulus
- Recent work by Blake Bottoms
The featured exhibit by CRIMEBABIES merges digital media, artificial intelligence and illusion.
"This is a really interesting exhibit," Jessie Boyland, gallery director, told 8News. "You're asked to type in something mysterious that maybe you seen, and through AI and the technology and apps that they've created, it will print you out an AI generated image of your cryptid or your mysterious sighting. Each of the exhibits is interactive, and we invite people to actually come in, touch the art, interact with it, see what your reflection looks like in the art."
Art Works is hosting a panel with CRIMEBABIES at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, June 27, where viewers can hear the artists talk about the work and the technology used to make it come to life.
Friday's reception is free and open to the public. The exhibits will be open through July 19, 2025.
Art Works is located at 320 Hull Street in Richmond.
