New doors installed at Chesterfield fire station after 18-year-old crashed into building in stolen vehicle

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Chesterfield fire station has installed new bay doors after an 18-year-old man crashed a stolen car into the building in January.

On Feb. 21, the Chesterfield County Fire and EMS shared in a social post that the new bay doors at Chesterfield Fire Station 7, which were damaged in January after an 18-year-old man drove a stolen car into them, have been installed and are now operational.

The crash had apparently done more damage than was initially thought and required more time than expected to fix the bay doors.

According to Chesterfield Police officers, on Jan. 4, 2026, 18-year-old Carson Lambert crashed a stolen vehicle into Chesterfield Fire Station 7 and damaged two of its glass bay doors.

Lambert had been at a bar in Richmond earlier that evening. When he arrived at the fire station, he “intentionally rammed the vehicle into two bay doors,” according to police.

The criminal complaint stated that the damaged doors were estimated to cost around $30,000 each.

Lambert is facing five charges and is due back in court on March 16.
