RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) - A new exhibit at the Virginia Museum of History and Culture is highlighting Virginia's role in the American Revolution.

"Give Me Liberty: Virginia & The Forging of a Nation" opens on Saturday, Mar. 22, and coincides with the 250th anniversary of Patrick Henry's famous speech made at St. John's Church in Richmond.

"Give Me Liberty focuses on Virginia's revolutionary journey from a colony that was very excited to be part of the British Empire, to its leadership role in leading the American colonies, to independence," Andrew Talkov, senior director for curatorial affairs, told 8News.

Guests will find more than 40 historical artifacts from institutions across Virginia, untold stories, and a larger than life, immersive re-creation of Patrick Henry's famous speech.

"In addition to learning this incredible story about how we came to become a nation and what Virginia's role in that was, it's really an opportunity for people to look at the 250 years since," Talkov explained. "What have our nation's accomplishments been? Where have we fallen short, and what do we want our democracy to look like in the future? And more importantly, what can my role be in that story?"

Give Me Liberty opens on Saturday, Mar. 22 and runs through Jan. 4, 2026.

Entry is included in museum daily admission. Tickets can be found on the museum's website.

The Virginia Museum of History and Culture is located at 428 N Arthur Ashe Boulevard in Richmond.
