New student discount is all the ‘Buzz’ for the Randolph Macon community

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The Town of Ashland has announced the launch of a new year-round discount program in collaboration with Randolph-Macon College (RMC).

Buzz Bucks is a new program aimed at connecting the RMC community with deals on restaurants, shops, and service providers in Ashland.

According to a release, with Buzz Bucks, RMC students, faculty and staff will now have a "convenient source of exclusive local offers." They can do this by showing an RMC ID at participating businesses.

Students, faculty and staff can enjoy savings throughout the year and are encouraged to explore what Ashland's downtown area has to offer.

"Ashland takes pride in being a college town," said Mayor Steve Trivett. "Buzz Bucks is a year-round welcome mat for Yellow Jackets, and an invitation to be part of our community’s daily life."

Participating businesses will display a "Buzz Bucks" window cling for customers to identify. Discounts will be set by each business and may change throughout the year.

"We’re grateful that this program will help make it easier for students, faculty, and staff to find—and keep supporting—these wonderful places to eat, shop, and get services just steps from campus," shared Vice President of Marketing at Randolph Macon College, Beth Campbell.
