No boil water advisory for Henrico after disconnecting from Richmond water system amid issues
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County announced that they have temporarily disconnected from Richmond's water distribution system on Tuesday after clogged filters caused operational issues and a boil advisory was issued for the city.
The county informed residents that Henrico is not under a boil advisory as of around 1:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, and the water is safe for use and consumption.
The county's Department of Public Utilities closed valves at connections to Richmond's system -- which helps service sections of central and eastern Henrico -- at 7:30 a.m. Water pressure is currently normal throughout the county, due to Henrico's water tanks being kept at capacity and serving customers that are usually supplied by Richmond.

Water samples are being continually tested by Henrico as it also works with Hanover County to address how both areas have been impacted.
Henrico officials said they were made aware of Richmond's water treatment plant issues at around 12:27 a.m. on Tuesday after the plant's superintendent reported many of the filters were clogged due to excessive sediment in the James River.
The Henrico Department of Public Utilities then reduced the amount of water it was taking from Richmond's system at the city's request.
Updates will be provided by Henrico County officials at 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., according to officials.
