‘Not about alarm, it’s about alignment’: Spanberger briefs public safety leaders on unified readiness

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Gov. Abigail Spanberger (D) briefed public safety leaders across the Commonwealth on unified readiness on Monday.

Spanberger held a Unified Readiness Briefing on Monday, March 10, with public safety leaders from across the Commonwealth, including police chiefs, sheriffs, fire chiefs, emergency managers, Virginia State Police and private sector partners.

In her opening remarks, Spanberger said that preparedness "must be proactive and rooted in collaboration."

“Our Unified Readiness framework strengthens intelligence sharing, reinforces interagency collaboration, and ensures that every jurisdiction, urban, suburban, and rural operate with a shared understanding of our security posture,” she added.

Despite global tensions peaking, particularly driven by conflicts in the Middle East, specifically involving Iran and the ongoing war in Ukraine, the governor made clear that this briefing was "not about alarm, it is about alignment."
