On cloud wine! Dover Hall prepares for new 7 Lady Vineyards tasting room in Goochland

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- It's "wine o'clock" in Goochland County! "7 Lady Vineyards" at Dover Hall broke ground on their new tasting room on Wednesday, April 2. There are two formal wineries in Goochland, so this new space brings one more to the area.

Owners told 8News this has been in the works since 2018, and they are excited to bring something special to Manakin Road.

When you take a step inside the historic Dover Hall, you will stroll past grand wooden doors, white pillars and be hit with a glimpse of history and culture.

"It's been quite the journey," Dover Hall's owner Chad Hornik said.

Nestled in the heart of Goochland County, Dover Hall has transformed into 38,000 square feet of beauty, charm and -- now -- wine-tasting.

"When you're making wine for a long time, you want to get to the point where you can open your tasting room and and that's kind of what makes this moment as exciting as it is," Hornik said.

There will be pouring, sipping and swirling! Project leaders sent 8News the designs.

The venue will allow walk-ups, but they're also using a new software for patrons to make reservations and choose their experience.

"What sets us apart is our team here at Dover Hall... I'll be quite honest with you, the way they go about how we treat our guests, how we truly hold our customers' hands and take them through an experience," Hornik said.

This local business aims to go beyond just wine tasting -- they're looking to introduce people to the vibrant rural landscapes and the cozy sense of family inside, while their culinary team whips up unique pairings for wine lovers to try.

"We wanted to be that place where people truly feel special," Hornik said. "Goochland has done a really good job with the breweries and distilleries and, now having another winery in Goochland, I think is just going to be more draw to the county. And I think it's going to be a big piece of how the county grows."

As of the time of reporting, there is no opening date yet. However, 8News learned that the tasting room is expected to open later this year.
