In total, about 100,000 gallons of water were used to put out this fire. Firefighters battled it for over four hours, with the scene marked under control by 1 p.m., per officials.
As there were no hydrants in the area, fire crews had to rely on tankers shuttling water from a dry hydrant at a nearby pond to battle the flames. Some tankers were able to fill up at the nearest hydrant located about a mile away.

One firefighter was hurt and they were taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure for their minor injuries.
Crews will remain at the scene until later Wednesday evening. They will continue to monitor the site for the next 24 to 48 hours to ensure no hotspots remain. Officials advised that nearby residents may see smoke for the next day or two due to the amount of yard storage burned.
The Hanover County Fire-EMS Department provided support with crews of its own, as well as two tankers. According to officials, a total of 35 firefighters were involved in this effort.
