One person taken to hospital after Richmond home seriously damaged in fire

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- One person was taken to the hospital following a house fire in Richmond early Wednesday morning.

According to the Richmond Department of Fire and EMS, a call reported a house fire in the 3100 block of East Marshall Street near the city's Chimborazo area at 2:07 a.m. on Wednesday, March 5.

When firefighters arrived, three people -- two male occupants and one female occupant -- were inside the home and then evacuated.

The fire was marked under control after 45 minutes. There were no serious injuries, according to officials, though one person was taken to a local hospital. Firefighters said they are expected to be okay.

Officials said the home was seriously damaged. A cause has not yet been determined, and firefighters continue to investigate.
