Over $1 million worth of narcotics seized, weekly VSP crime report shows
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- According to the Virginia State Police (VSP) weekly crime report from Feb. 25 to March 3, 147 pounds of narcotics were seized, which would be worth around $1 million.
According to the report, VSP worked in partnership with federal and local agencies to achieve "significant criminal interdictions," according to the report.
These "crime suppression operations" by police along with local and federal agencies reportedly led to the recovery of items such as "firearms, the seizure of narcotics, the seizure of U.S. currency and the investigation of of multiple firearms throughout the Commonwealth."
Highlighted areas during these operations include the following:
- During operations, VSP recovered 11 firearms totaling at $6,500
- Together, VSP and the VSP State Task Force seized 147.1 pounds of narcotics with a combined revenue of $1,280,745.
- Cocaine: 6.1 pounds
- Crack cocaine: 1.9 pounds
- Marijuana: 110.3 pounds
- Methamphetamine: 8.9 pounds
- Fentanyl: 21.2 grams
- THC Consumables: 15.0 pounds
- Psilocybin (psychedelic mushroom): 1.5 ounces
- MDMA: 25 grams
- Designer drugs: 12.1 pounds
An additional $7,889 in cash was also recovered during the operations, according to the report.
VSP stated that they are remaining "steadfast in their mission to enhance public safety and uphold the laws throughout the Commonwealth while supporting the Governor’s initiatives on violent crime."
