Over $1.4 million in illegal drugs seized in one week by Virginia State Police

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Over $1.4 million worth of narcotics was seized in one week by the Virginia State Police as part of ongoing crime suppression efforts.

Through a partnership with federal and local agencies, between Jan. 21 and Jan. 27, the Virginia State Police seized 63.8 pounds of narcotics across the commonwealth.

This included 11.8 pounds of cocaine, 24.2 pounds of marijuana, 19.8 pounds of methamphetamine, 2.4 pounds of psilocybin, 5.4 pounds of fentanyl and 105.4 pounds of THC consumables.

These illegal narcotics would have generated about $1.44 million if they were sold, per the Virginia State Police. Troopers also recovered $113,886 in U.S. currency.

Additionally, 34 firearms were recovered, with their value estimated to be $19,000.

Police have received 1,492 human trafficking tips to date, with 18 new tips between Jan. 21 and Jan. 27. Police said 220 cases were either investigated or under investigation.
