Over 39,000 Central Virginia homes, businesses without power due to severe storms
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over 39,000 Central Virginia homes and businesses are without power Monday night amid severe thunderstorms.
The evening of Monday, March 16, severe thunderstorms brought heavy downpours and high-speed winds to Central Virginia, causing many to lose power.
As of 11:15 p.m. Monday evening, more than 39,235 Dominion Energy customers in Central Virginia are without power. The most significant outages are in the following localities:
- Henrico County: 8,740 homes and businesses
- Chesterfield County: 7,995 homes and businesses
- Hanover County: 4,067 homes and businesses
- Albemarle County: 3,440 homes and businesses
- Goochland County: 3,439 homes and businesses
- Powhatan County: 2,705 homes and businesses
- Amelia County: 1,801 homes and businesses
- Richmond City: 1,784 homes and businesses
- Caroline County: 1,157 homes and businesses
- Prince Edward County: 1,042 homes and businesses
- New Kent County: 999 homes and businesses
- Lancaster County: 520 homes and businesses
- Brunswick County: 461 homes and businesses
- Buckingham County: 299 homes and businesses
- King William County: 210 homes and businesses
- Mecklenburg County: 193 homes and businesses
- Petersburg City: 134 homes and businesses
- King and Queen County: 131 homes and businesses
- Charles City County: 128 homes and businesses
At the height of the outage, nearly 47,000 Central Virginia homes and businesses were without power.
