Over 44,000 homes, businesses without power in Central Virginia due to storms

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over 44,000 homes and businesses across Central Virginia are without power amid Thursday's severe weather.

Severe thunderstorms hit the Greater Richmond Region beginning in the afternoon of Thursday, June 19. This stormy weather damaged power lines, causing outages across the area.

As of 11 p.m., about 44,298 Dominion Energy customers in Central Virginia are without power, according to the company's outage map. Just under 30,000 of those customers are in Henrico County.

Here's a breakdown of these outages by locality:

  • Henrico County: 19,643 homes and businesses
  • Hanover County: 8,767 homes and businesses
  • Richmond: 3,654 homes and businesses
  • Goochland County: 1,972 homes and businesses
  • Powhatan County: 1,870 homes and businesses
  • Petersburg: 1,653 homes and businesses
  • Richmond County: 1,145 homes and businesses
  • Chesterfield County: 1,092 homes and businesses
  • King William County: 998 homes and businesses
  • Charles City County: 682 homes and businesses
  • Northumberland County: 487 homes and businesses
  • Prince George County: 472 homes and businesses
  • Middlesex County: 408 homes and businesses
  • New Kent County: 406 homes and businesses
  • Louisa County: 238 homes and businesses
  • Albemarle County: 232 homes and businesses
  • Dinwiddie County: 217 homes and businesses
  • Buckingham County: 207 homes and businesses
  • Brunswick County: 155 homes and businesses

At the peak of the outage, nearly 90,000 homes and businesses had no power.
