Pedestrian hit, killed by Amtrak train in Fredericksburg

FREDERICKSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- A person is dead after they were reportedly hit by an Amtrak train in Fredericksburg on Saturday.

At around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30, the Fredericksburg Police Department's emergency center received a call about a pedestrian near the train tracks in the 200 block of Lafayette Boulevard.

When officers arrived on scene, they found a male dead after he was reportedly struck by an Amtrak train.

Fredericksburg Police said Amtrak Police and a detective responded to the scene after they were both notified of the incident.

According to police, the victim's next of kin has been notified and the investigation is ongoing.
