Pedestrian seriously hurt, taken by air to hospital after crash in Hopewell

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- A man had to be flown to a local hospital via med-flight after a driver hit him in a Hopewell intersection Thursday evening.

At about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6, the Hopewell Police Department was dispatched to the intersection of Arlington Road and Raleigh Street for the report of a pedestrian struck.

When they arrived, officers found an unidentified man with life-threatening injuries. He was taken to a local hospital via med-flight for treatment.

As of Friday, Feb. 7, the victim remains in critical condition, according to police.

The involved driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, according to police.

While the crash remains under investigation, police said that neither drugs nor alcohol are believed to be factors.
