Person charged in connection to Tabb Avenue shooting in Hopewell
HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) -- A person has been charged in connection to a shooting that occurred on Tabb Avenue in Hopewell on April 28.
At 11:18 p.m. on Monday, April 28, officers responded the 1500 block of Tabb Avenue for reports of a person shot, according to police. When officers arrived on the scene they found a man with several gunshot wounds and he was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The investigation has found that the incident began at Five Forks Food Mart, and clerk Helmi Makshar, of Chesterfield, has been charged with felonious assault, discharge of a firearm in public and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
In a Facebook post, the Hopewell police department released a statement acknowledging the city's recent uptick in crime and highlighted updates on other incidents that have occurred within the city.
