Person dead after Chesterfield crash on Buford Road

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A person has died after hitting a power pole on Buford Road in Chesterfield County late Friday night.

According to Chesterfield County Police, the crash happened in the 200 block of Buford Road at 10:34 p.m. on Friday, April 11.

Police said an initial investigation suggests a sedan was driving southbound on Buford Road at high speed when the driver lost control and hit a power pole. The driver was then taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead.

The identity of the driver is currently being withheld until police can notify their family.
