Person found trapped under lawn mower after it fell down 40-foot embankment in Hanover

HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A person was found trapped under a lawn mower on Thursday after it fell down a 40-foot embankment in Hanover.

According to Hanover County Fire-EMS, units were dispatched to an area near Brookhollow Court at 2:35 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14, for the report of "an overturned lawn mower with entrapment."

The initial incident commander said that a "large mower" had fallen down a 40-foot embankment and came to rest on a waterway. The department's Technical Rescue Team was then requested, due to the elevation angle and "significant terrain challenges," officials said.

Once they gained access, crews found an individual "entrapped under the mower" with injuries that were considered life-threatening, according to authorities. A helicopter was then activated to take the patient to a medical care facility.
