Person in critical condition after motorcycle hits truck on Route 1, lanes closed

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A person has been left in critical condition and all lanes have closed after a motorcycle hit a pickup truck on Route 1 in Chesterfield Friday night.

According to the Chesterfield County Police Department, officers responded to the 8700 block of Route 1 near Chester Road at 6:48 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 24 for the report of a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck towing a small excavator.

The two vehicles made contact when one of the vehicles was making a U-turn into another lane.

The person driving the motorcycle was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries -- officials said they are in critical condition as of the time of reporting.

As of 7:46 p.m., all northbound and southbound lanes are closed near Chester Road as a result of the crash, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT).
