According to Chesterfield Fire, the fire is believed to have been caused by a portable battery pack that was left inside the sauna. The incident caused smoke and water damage to the women’s locker room.

"A reminder, lithium-ion batteries, like those in portable chargers, can overheat easily," the fire department wrote in a social post. "So when using one, you should avoid exposure to extreme heat and stop using it if becomes damaged or starts to swell. And always charge on a hard, flat, ventilated surface."
