Pet adoption event coming to Henrico County Animal Shelter

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Those looking to adopt a pet in Henrico County can do so during a "Clear the Shelter" adoption event at the animal shelter this August.
From 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, the Henrico County Police Animal Shelter will hold an adoption event at 10421 Woodman Road in Glen Allen.
Organizations across the U.S. are encouraged to "Clear the Shelter" throughout August, as part of a pet initiative founded over a decade ago.
The county shelter and community partners are coming together to host a "Clear the Shelter" event to find homes for furry friends.
Many pets will be up-to-date on their vaccinations and spay or neutered procedures -- and therefore ready to head home with new families -- thanks to a collaboration with Henrico Humane Society, Furbish Thrift and the William A. Harrison Jr. Foundation.
Attendees can also adopt pets from the Sussex County Animal Shelter, as they're also joining in on August's event.
While adopters must be at least 18 years old, they do not have to be Henrico residents. Only a valid photo ID and an adoption fees is required to adopt, per Henrico Police.
All pets available for adoption can be found online on PetFinder.
