Petersburg Community Corrections officially changes name to Gateway Justice Services

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) -- The city of Petersburg announced on Tuesday that the Petersburg Community Corrections has been renamed Gateway Justice Services, which will continue to provide in-person video access to citizens for magistrate hearings.

In a social post on Tuesday, Jan. 13, the city announced the name change and shared that under the new name, Gateway Justice Services will continue to provide the following services:

  • Pretrial and Probation investigations and supervision for both Dinwiddie County and the City of Petersburg
  • Recovery/mobile unit assistance (city of Petersburg only)

Gateway Justice Services will also offer in-person video access to citizens for magistrate hearings. Through this service, citizens may seek a petition for:

  • Mental health processes
  • Criminal processes

According to the city, the Gateway Justice Services, located on the third floor of 20 E. Tabb St. is closed on weekends, holidays and for inclement weather.

Their regular walk-in hours of operation are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. They are open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, according to the city.

Magistrate and hearing room access must be conducted in person, with no appointment required.
