Petersburg roadways closed due to Sunday’s severe floods

PETERSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Several City of Petersburg roadways are closed on Sunday following severe flooding throughout the area.

Severe storms, specifically flash flooding, resulted in 2-3 inches of rain across the Richmond area on Sunday, July 13, which resulted in vehicles in high water and roadways being closed.

This comes after flash flooding also hit the Greater Richmond Region on Saturday, July 12.

The following are the roads closed in Petersburg as of 3:15 p.m. Sunday:

  • River Street /M.L.K. Jr Bridge
  • Joseph Jenkin
  • E. Bank/Washington Street
  • Puddle Dock/E. Washington
  • E. Bank/Bolingbrook
  • W. Wythe/Market Street
  • County/Wagner, traffic light also out
