PHOTOS: 54th annual Arts in the Park returns to Byrd Park

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- The Arts in the Park show brought in new original artist creations during a two-day event on Saturday and Sunday, featuring hundreds of artists from the Richmond region.

Sponsored by the Carillon Civic Association, the two-day event ran from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at Byrd Park in Richmond, showcasing more than 350 artists and including paintings, photography, pottery, drawings and more.

"I use a lot of paint, plants [and] animals, and it's been great to see people's reactions," said artist Susannah Raine, who has been creating art for eight years. "It's a great way to show it off and show that there's all different kinds of price points for you to have original art in your house[s], and it's good to look around and see what each person likes."

Some of the featured art at the 54th annual show includes: paintings by Scott Harris, pottery by Sam Little, photography by Brent McGuirt, metal artwork by Jaron Reeser and jewelry by Renee Kaelber.

"It's been fantastic. [There's] genuine interest in the art, discussing the art and excitement for the arts," Michael Paulschievone, who is been creating art for five years, said. "And that's one of the reasons it makes Richmond such a great city."

"It's a well-curated show and a fantastic opportunity for diverse variety of artists to show what they can do," he added. "It's very local, which is great for the community."
