CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield County firefighters took a quick break from their everyday rescues on Thursday to help some of the county's tiniest, fuzziest residents find new fur-ever homes.

On Thursday, July 18, Chesterfield County Animal Services held a kitten adoption event in hopes of finding loving homes for dozens of adoptable kittens.

Firefighters with Chesterfield County Fire and EMS visited the shelter to support the event, encouraging prospective adoptees to take home a new furry friend and posing for some photos.

Per officials, this extra dose of cuteness certainly didn't hurt the kittens' chances -- in fact, the event went even better than originally planned.

"Every single kitten that was available was adopted," fire officials said. "The event was so successful, they didn’t even need to hold a similar adoption event the next day."

If you missed the event, fire officials still encourage you to get involved with the shelter how you can.

"They [the shelter] will have tons of cute little faces like this looking for homes in the coming weeks and months," officials said. "And you can help, even if you don’t want to adopt one!"
