PHOTOS: Dave Matthews Band rocks Richmond’s Allianz Amphitheater

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Grammy award-winning Dave Matthews Band came to Richmond to perform two sold-out shows at the Allianz Amphitheater. Fans were packed from the barricade of the pit to the back of the lawn, wearing all kinds of band merch.

Dozens of fans without tickets even gathered around the venue with chairs to get a glimpse of the show and hear the live music.

8News caught up with Live Nation regional vice president of operations Matt Rogers, who shared that it was the band's first time playing in this market in 30 years. It was also Allianz Amphitheater's first officially sold-out show.

"The energy level in the city has been incredible this week," Rogers said. "More than half of the fans that came to the shows are from out of town -- out of the state of Virginia. We had fans from California and Alaska attend the shows."

One of the fans who traveled miles to be at one of the shows was Mistie Rollins, who came with her husband all the way from Utah to experience their 63rd Dave Matthews Band concert.

Rollins said that her favorite song to hear the band play is "Grey Street".

"The energy of the crowd is amazing -- and every show is different, never the same set, ever, Rollins said. "Everywhere we go, it's always something different."
