HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A contemporary art exhibit took place at the 1708 Gallery Saturday night, offering residents the opportunity to explore a variety of installations and art pieces. The exhibit, titled "InLight: Grounds for Clearing" is an annual public exhibition showcasing contemporary art. This year, it took place at Pine Camp Cultural Arts and Community Center on Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9 from 7 to 11 p.m. There are several different types of works displayed, including sculptures, performances and virtual projects that use platforms that are light-based. The event always take place in the dark and it picks a different location to present in each year. The particular inspiration for the works of this year's exhibit was an exploration of open space, materially as well as metaphysically. Some of the featured artists included Flooded Sun and Dietrich Teschner, among others. 8News spoke with Tricia Evangelisto, the InLight Volunteer Coordinator, about what she enjoys about this event and what people can expect. "There are eight installations total with artists that are local to Richmond and some that are from all over the United States," Evangelisto said. "You can expect to see art that you've never seen before, that's one of my favorite things about this festival." To learn more about the exhibit, visit this link.
