CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A local combat robot nonprofit, Richmond Area Bot Instigated Destruction (RABID), hosted a public battle on Saturday that was free for people to attend.

The battle was held at Coastal Church, Bethany Campus located at 1501 S. Providence Road with the fights kicking off at 11 a.m. It was a family-friendly and free event, that showcased robot combat as well as technological innovation for people of all ages to enjoy.

8News spoke with an attendee of the event about what an experience like this can offer the community.

"There's computer engineers, mechanical engineers," the attendee said. "So it's a great spot to just learn from other people about, you know, not only robotics, but just any careers that can relate to it."
