PHOTOS: Snowball Festival returns to Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Chesterfield's Snowball Festival took place this weekend with several different activities aimed to help people get outside and celebrate winter.

The festival took place at River City Sportsplex, located at 13030 Genito Road, on Sunday, Feb. 9 after being rescheduled due to inclement weather.

The free event featured a synthetic ice rink as well as multiple winter-themed inflatables. Additionally, people had the opportunity to purchase food or drinks from various food trucks and vendors.

8News spoke to Vicki Kiger, Special Events Coordinator for Chesterfield County Parks and Recreation, about what an event like this provides for the community.

"What's got more fun than this? I mean, we've got everything, we've got the largest bounce house you can get in which is 25 [feet] tall..." Kiger said. "It's just a great free event, it's free, for families to come out, so there's something for everybody -- young, old, from little kids to older people, we've got it all."
