Police: Man dies on Thanksgiving after Henrico driver ran him over, didn’t stop
HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- A Pittsylvania County man died on Thanksgiving after police said a driver ran him over in Henrico County and did not stop.
At about 7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, officers with the Henrico County Police Division were called to the area of Brook Road and Bridgeport Avenue for a report of a medical emergency.
Investigators determined that 36-year-old Austin Chance Ratcliff of Pittsylvania was trying to cross Brook Road when a driver hit him in the northbound lanes. According to police, the driver did not stop after hitting Ratcliff, instead fleeing the scene.
Ratcliff was taken to a local hospital with injuries considered life-threatening. He died there several days later on Tuesday, Nov. 27.

"Information gathered from the public led investigators to identify a vehicle of interest, which was located and taken into evidence," police said in a Dec. 2 press release. "Henrico Police Crash Team Investigators continue to look into the circumstances and cause of this crash."
No information on this vehicle of interest, or any other potential suspect details, was shared by police.
