Powhatan School Board changing format of meetings
POWHATAN COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- The structure of Powhatan County School Board meetings will look different starting in mid-October, as the school district turns to a single combined meeting format.
In a social post by the Powhatan County Public Schools (PCPS), the school division announced that the format of Powhatan School Board meetings will be changing.
Starting at the Oct. 13 meeting, the school board will move to a single combined meeting format aimed at improving transparency, clarity and "the overall flow of the School Board's work," the school district said in its post.
The meeting will begin at 3 p.m., with time reserved for closed session -- typically from 4 to 6 p.m. Per the school district, the board will reconvene in open session and continue with the rest of the meeting.
"The agenda will use an improved structure designed to make it easier to follow discussions and decisions," the school division said.
Until the week of Sept. 29, the school board held two separate monthly meetings: a workshop session at 4 p.m. used primarily for closed session items and a regular business meeting at 6 p.m.
Agendas will continue to be posted on Thursday ahead of each regularly scheduled Tuesday meeting, with a YouTube video of the meeting to follow as well.
"We appreciate your attention to this change and your continued engagement with the important work of the School Board," the school division said.
