Rabid raccoon reported in western Henrico

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- Henrico County has reported its fifth recorded case of rabies of 2024 in the western part of the county. According to the Henrico County Division of Police, officers responded to the 6700 block of Horsepen Road on Monday, Oct. 28 after it was reported that a dog was exposed to a potentially rabid raccoon in the area. The raccoon was taken to the State Lab and tested positive for rabies, the dog will be quarantined on the owner's property. There were no exposures reported to any other animals or humans.
