Remarkable Woman: Leslie Marie Moseley drives change on and off the green

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) -- This month, 8News is highlighting the remarkable women making a difference in our community. Leslie Marie Moseley is a prime example, demonstrating impactful leadership through her diverse roles. From founding an all-girls golf club to excelling as a businesswoman, Moseley is making strides both on and off the green.

What began as Moseley's personal quest to learn golf, transformed into Ladies Golf Too, a thriving club of women that's taken the Golf Club at the Highlands by storm.

“We're not even a year old and we've already hosted over 200 women and we have 600 on our waitlist," Mosely said. "These girls are so fabulous. They do everything."

The appeal is more than just learning a new sport. It's about supporting mental health, networking and making new friends.

“You're building confidence, you're learning a new skill, you're getting exercise," Moseley said. “When you're out here [Golf Club at the Highlands], you're not thinking about work. A lot of us are overworked right now. We're overstimulated. And this just gives us a moment just to breathe.”

Moseley emphasized that she couldn't have created Ladies Golf Too without the help of the dedicated staff at the Highland Springs Golf Club. Their support and collaboration are crucial to the club's success.

Looking ahead, Moseley has even bigger plans for Ladies Golf Too.

"We want to host a gala this year because our goal is to get into high schools and introduce golf to girls that would not have the opportunity otherwise. So, 'Girls Golf Too' is on the horizon for this year, and we plan to host a benefit gala to support that effort," Moseley said.

Moseley's impact extends beyond the fairway. She's a force in Richmond and Atlanta real estate, helping families find their dream homes. A captivating host on the Emmy-nominated "The American Dream: Selling Richmond," showcasing the city's allure. Plus, she's on the board of directors for the Forward Foundation -- a local-based nonprofit helping single parents navigate financial challenges.

“We support the men and women who are working or they're in school and they're trying to get ahead, but there's just something kind of holding them back where they need just that extra push to reach their goals," Moseley said.

But perhaps Moseley's most important role is being a mother to her 15-year-old daughter, Kamille.

"I always like to keep her around because I want her to see why I'm working so hard," Moseley said.

For other women pursuing their goals, Moseley offered straightforward, empowering advice.

"Just do it. Like, you don't get the next step until you do the first one. It's just like putting a puzzle together. You put that first piece, then you have to put the next one in the next one, and then it all comes together," Mosely said.

8News asked Moseley about being honored as a Remarkable Woman in our community.

"It's humbling, you know, because you do so much and some things can look like it's overnight, but no one sees, like, the years that go into leading up to your winning season," Moseley said.
