Richmond Animal Care and Control closed to public on Wednesday
RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Richmond Animal Care and Control has announced that it will be closed to the public on Wednesday as it said it doesn't have enough water to maintain public bathrooms. The shelter said it has enough short-term water reserves to care for its animals, but not enough to also maintain its public bathrooms, so the shelter will be closed on Wednesday, Jan. 8. The shelter added that it plans to open on Thursday, Jan. 9. This comes after residents and businesses throughout the city have experienced a lack of water service and a boil water advisory since a malfunction at the city's water treatment plant occurred during a power outage.
