Richmond attorney takes first spot, beats reigning champion on ‘Jeopardy!’

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A Richmond attorney will return to "Jeopardy!" for her second game on Monday after winning over $16,000 Friday night.

Attorney Dianna Miller first took the "Jeopardy!" written test many years ago, when she was 15 and living in Okinawa, Japan, she told host Ken Jennings. But it wasn't until Friday, Feb. 27, that Miller's moment on the game show arrived.

In “In The State Capital,” when Wisconsin technical trainer Tim Leung incorrectly answered "Boston" to the question, "St. John's Church where Patrick Henry gave his 'Liberty or Death' speech," Miller successfully added $600 to her pot for the night.

"What is Richmond, Virginia?" she answered.

"Jeopardy!" wrapped up Friday's game with the final category, "Companies." Jennings provided the clue, "Historian Louis Hyman wrote this company's sales method undid the power of the 'consumerism of Jim Crow.'"

Second-place Miller, with $11,600, wagered $4,799 over her response, "What is Sears and Roebuck?" She successfully took home the first spot and defeated three-game champion James Hirsch from Ontario. Miller ended the night with $16,399.

Tune into ABC on Monday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. to cheer on Miller.
