Richmond bakery Sub Rosa to reopen over a year after a fire closed its doors

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) -- Over a year after the doors of Sub Rosa closed due to a fire, the Richmond bakery has announced that it will reopen on Tuesday.

In a recent Instagram post, the bakery said it will reopen at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16 thanks to help from the community.

Sub Rosa was closed for over a year after a fire burned through the building on Nov. 24, 2024.

Although there were originally plans to reopen the bakery in November 2025, the business said several things could potentially cause delays, including the process of getting a building permit.

People can head to Sub Rosa at 620 N 25th St. starting Tuesday for bread, flours, croissants and more.

"Words cannot express the gratitude we have for our staff, community, everyone involved with the rebuild, and friends and family for all of the support and hard work during this restoration period," the bakery said on Instagram.
